I am HLA-B27 positive, diagnosed with the spondyloarthropathy, ankylosing spondylitis, like my father.

I started helminthic therapy (HT) to reduce my inflammatory symptoms, and this has worked really well. I am now in remission.

Since spondyloarthropathies are genetic, I figure my kids have a strong chance of also being HLA-B27 positive, and this is the main reason for also giving them NA. My hope is that it might prevent them developing a spondyloarthropathy, and, if they did, that it might reduce their symptoms.

Also, my youngest got pneumococcal meningitis at 8 months old, then required 6 weeks of intravenous antibiotics, so I figure his gut could use all the help it can get to help the reestablishment of normal flora. My understanding is that HT helps create a good microbiome.

My kids are pretty healthy apart from the meningitis debacle, and my daughter’s dairy intolerance, which hasn’t changed with HT. They both tolerate HT well, but I only give them small doses of 3 NA every 3months.
