Reactive arthritis (Reiter's syndrome): eye disease manifestations[edit | edit source]

Eye symptoms often appear early, sometimes before joint complaints, with the most characteristic symptoms being:

    • conjunctivitis (~50% of patients)
    • uveitis/ iritis (~20-30%). Requires urgent treatment to prevent permanent vision damage.)
    • episcleritis (less common).

Sarcoidosis: eye disease manifestations[edit | edit source]

Sarcoidosis can affect virtually any structure of the eye, with ocular sarcoidosis occuring in approximately 25-50% of patients with systemic disease. If untreated, it can lead to serious complications including glaucoma, cataracts and blindness.

Sjogren's disease: eye disease manifestations[edit | edit source]

The hallmark ocular issue is dryness (keratoconjunctivitis sicca), with dry eye affecting ~80% of Sjögren's patients and often being one of the earliest symptoms. Without proper lubrication, long-term complications can threaten vision.

    Uveitis[edit | edit source]
